Utilize Your Skills

Martine has the goal of becoming a wine educator. Here’s her path to get there:

I work for wineonline.ca as the Imports and Ordering Manager as well as my own private tasting business.

After I had my son in 2016, I decided I wanted to pursue wine education. I had worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years and although I love the hustle and bustle of dining room floor, that life just didn’t suit me anymore. I worked my way through a few different wine programs, including the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) and the International Sommelier Guild.

After I received my WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, I knew that the WSET programs made the most sense for me. I am halfway through the online Diploma program and have already experienced a boost in my own confidence as well as credibility within the industry. I have been able to utilize my skills and knowledge in my full time job as well as set up a private wine tasting business. In the future, I hope to expand my business and hopefully, one day, become a wine educator.

For the next generation of Diploma Students – education is never a waste of time! WSET Diploma is a big commitment, find a group of friends (even if you do it online) and don’t procrastinate!
