Scratch More Than Just the Surface

Calvin is a recent WSET Level 2 Award in Wines student at IWEG. Learn why this wine enthusiast signed up for the course:

I have always had a keen interest in wine and took the WSET Level 2 to learn about various grapes and regions, more generally broaden my palate and maybe in the future do something related that is more than a hobby. Having an exam component was excellent as it helped focus my learning, particularly in new areas and also made reading wine labels going forward a lot more interesting. Doing practice quizzes was really crucial for the exam as well as the weekly reading. More importantly I enjoyed the course a lot (even though it was virtual) and would love to do another level and perhaps pursue something related to the wine industry in the future.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines
Gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown and the styles of wine they produce.

The next course will take place Tuesdays, September 12th – November 8th at 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Dive In and Learn

Valentin is a recent WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and French Wine Scholar student at IWEG. Here’s what motivates him:

I have always been a huge food lover and once I discovered my passion for wine, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to dive in and learn not only about wine, but also everything else wine represents – culture, tradition, geography, history and language. Pursuing WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and the French Wine Scholar was the right move for me and I don’t plan on stopping there. I look forward to visiting new wine regions armed with the knowledge I gained.

WSET Level 3 Award in Wines
Taste and describe with confidence the characteristics of the principal wines of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style, quality and price.

The next course will take place on Wednesdays, August 31st – December 14th at 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

French Wine Scholar
Develop specialist knowledge and appreciate the cultural context of French wine.

The next course will take place Thursdays, March 23rd – May 18th at 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Scratching More Than Just the Surface

Domenico completed the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. Here’s what he learned:

The most important thing I have learned so far is that I have only scratched the surface of this incredibly gigantic, ancient, and diverse world of wine. Because of this foundation of information, I’ve learned that the only way to move is forward from here.

I plan to use my new wine knowledge for an array of different things. At the current moment I plan to use my knowledge to develop more of a palate to taste, to spread the knowledge I have to other people who are curious about wine, and to use it as a foundational tool to continue to study further. In the long run I plan to use it in a professional aspect.

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines
Build your confidence when tasting wine, reading a wine list, buying a bottle or pairing wine with food.

The next course will take place on Saturday, September 17th at 9:30 am – 4:30pm.
