IWEG is the Italian Wine Scholar Program Provider of the Year

Wine Scholar Guild’s (WSG) program provider network is comprised of 135 schools in 32 countries and includes over 175 of the world’s most qualified and passionate wine educators. Each year, the WSG awards committee honours outstanding partner schools and dedicated educators with the prestigious Program Provider Awards across eight categories.

These exceptional schools and educators consistently go beyond the textbook, igniting a true passion for wine in their students, inspiring the next generation of wine lovers and wine leaders. WSG is grateful for their commitment to teaching and for the impact our school network has on the greater wine community. Knowledge is power!

IWEG has been selected as the 2023 Italian Wine Scholar Program Provider of the Year. IWEG was also awarded the Italian Wine Scholar Program Provider of the Year by the Wine Scholar Guild in 2017.

The Italian Wine Scholar at IWEG is taught by authorized Wine Scholar Guild instructors Aleksandar SimicNancy Reynolds, Robert Miller and Kim Berdusco. We thank them immensely for their dedication in providing an exceptional learning experience for the IWEG community. 

The Italian Wine Scholar

The Italian Wine Scholar is an extensive two-unit specialist certification focused on the diverse wines and wine regions of Italy. It is designed by the Wine Scholar Guild to provide current, accurate information on all of the wine regions of Northern, Central and Southern Italy, and to validate proficiency in the wines and wine regions of the country.

Unit 1 is 16 hours and covers Northern Italy and Unit 2 is 14 hours and covers Central and Southern Italy. The course provides detailed coverage of Italian wines, as well as an introduction to Italian history, geography, viticulture and winemaking. The units can be taken in any order and are sold separately.

The next Italian Wine Scholar will take place Thursdays, September 19th – November 14th, 2024 at 6pm – 8pm. No class on October 31st. Learn more

WSET Level 1 Award in Wine

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings.

The next in-class WSET Level 1 Award in Wine will take place Saturday, February 24th at 9:30 am – 4:30pm. Learn more.

WSET Level 1 Award in Beer

WSET Level 1 Award in Beer provides a great introduction to the world of beer. Learning though sight, smell and taste, you’ll become familiar with a range of beer styles and how they are made.

If you work with beer, you’ll be able to answer customer queries with confidence and provide helpful recommendations. If you’re learning for fun, you’ll feel inspired to explore new styles and know how to get the most out of every glass.

The next online WSET Level 1 Award in Beer will take place Monday, February 26th – Sunday, March 24th. Learn more.

The French Wine Scholar

The French Wine Scholar is an in-depth specialist certification focused on the diverse wines and wine regions of France. It is designed by the Wine Scholar Guild to provide current, accurate information on all of the wine regions of France and validate proficiency in the wines and wine regions of France.

This 20-hour course provides detailed coverage of French AOC wines, as well as an introduction to French history, geography, viticulture and winemaking.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is the perfect wine course for anyone wishing to learn about a wide range of grapes and styles, as well as those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown and the styles of wine they produce.
