COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

The purpose of this policy is to establish a formalized approach for the Independent Wine Education Guild (hereinafter referred to as “IWEG” or the “School”) for managing the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This policy shall be in effect as of October 12, 2021 and will remain in place until further notice.

This policy and any procedures made hereunder apply to all employees, instructors, students, and other clients of IWEG, as well as contractors, trade partners, sponsors, volunteers and the broader IWEG community, including all visitors to the school, to the extent that such groups and individuals may require access to IWEG’s school campus and other partner facilities.

Campus:  Means IWEG’s current downtown location at 211 Yonge Street, Suite 501, Toronto, Ontario, M5B 1M4, including all satellite teaching facilities, such as at the “Wine Academy”, located at 67 Richmond Street West, B101, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 1Z5 and Collège Boréal, located at 21 Lasalle Boulevard, Sudbury Ontario P3A 6B1.
Fully vaccinated: Means having received two (2) doses of a double-dose vaccine or one (1) dose of a single-dose vaccine approved by Health Canada and having had the final dose at least fourteen (14) days prior.

Policy Section 1:

Policy 1.1. This policy is made in accordance with Ontario Regulation 364/20 requiring vaccination policies be instituted for certain high-risk settings, which includes post-secondary institutions.

Policy 1.2. It is IWEG’s top priority to protect the health and safety of our community, and we will continuously monitor relevant provincial and public health directives, as they are the basis of this policy.

Policy 1.3. IWEG requires all employees, instructors and students wishing to enter the school’s campus and/or satellite teaching facilities to declare one’s individual vaccination status with respect to COVID-19 and subsequently to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for verification purposes.

Policy 1.4 IWEG will ensure that all third-party contractors, guests, and trade visitors comply equally with the requirements set out in this policy.

Policy 1.5 “Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination”: All individuals coming on campus and/or to a satellite teaching facility as of October 12, 2021, are required to be fully vaccinated. Individuals who are granted an exemption in accordance with Section 2 of this Policy below or who are in the process of being fully vaccinated will be required to undertake additional safety measures, including providing proof of a negative test, to access IWEG’s campus and/or satellite teaching facilities.
Policy 1.6. Individuals will be required to provide proof of having been fully vaccinated by October 4, 2021, or to have obtained a formal exemption in accordance with Section 2 of this Policy, approved by IWEG, to continue to attend campus and/or satellite teaching facilities in-person.

Policy 1.7. Any personal information or personal health information, which may be verified and collected, because of this policy, will be stored in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.

Policy Section 2:

Policy 2.1 “Exemptions and Non-Compliance”:  IWEG will consider the duty to accommodate, on an individual basis, requests from students, instructors, employees, third-party contractors, guests, and trade visitors for exemption from the vaccination requirement, based on medical reasons or any other exemption which may come into effect and be created by law or regulation.

Policy 2.2  Consistent with the duty to accommodate, the provincial proof of vaccine regime states that people who are unable to receive the COVID-19 vaccine must provide a written document, supplied by a physician (MD), a registered nurse extended class [RN(EC)] or a nurse practitioner (NP) stating that they are exempt for a medical reason from being fully vaccinated, as well as the effective time-period for the medical reason. Individuals with a medical exemption are required to present identification and a written document stating the individual is exempt for a medical reason.

Policy 2.3 Individuals who qualify for a valid medical exemption will be permitted to attend IWEG’s campus and/or satellite teaching facilities in person, only if the individual provides proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered 48 hours prior to coming to campus and/or satellite teaching facilities.  Exempt individuals who show a positive test result are encouraged to contact their health provider and will not be granted access to campus until a negative test result is achieved and affirmed.

Policy 2.4 Individuals who request an exemption other than an approved medical exemption will not be permitted at this time to attend IWEG’s campus and/or satellite teaching facilities in person.
